Becoming A Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Becoming a Bar/Bat Mitzvah at Congregation B’nai Tzedek is a powerful experience that marks the welcoming of a young adult member of our congregational family into our community. This time-honored tradition and rite of passage is celebrated together with the community. A Bar or Bat Mitzvah is a major transformational event in the life of an entire family, including the child, parents, grandparents, siblings and extended family. The preparation, increased focus on Torah and Jewish identity and the event itself can enrich the family’s Judaism.
This rite of passage offers families a wonderful opportunity to better understand and strengthen their connection with their Jewish heritage as well as with the congregation. For children who have special needs; our congregation does everything possible to ensure that any child with special needs will be able to experience a Bar/Bat Mitzvah with joy and pride in their accomplishment. No one is excluded at B’nai Tzedek. We take great satisfaction and pleasure in working together as a community devoted to all our members. For questions or for a copy of our B'nai Mitzvah Guidelines, please contact Laurie Greene.

Climate change can feel overwhelming and difficult to understand. This presentation by Karen Lowe uses an interactive data simulation program to give insights and help people see connections, play out scenarios, and see what works to address climate change, inequity, and related issues like energy, health, and food. These visual tools were developed by Climate Interactive, an independent, not-for-profit think-tank that grew out of MIT Sloan in Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA. -

This 5-week class will be an adventure in the spiritual meaning and energies of the Hebrew Letters, drawing and learning about art skills with three letters, painting one and then using that letter for meditation. No art experience needed—just come with a pencil, eraser and paper for sketching. A few other materials will be discussed in the first class. The class will be super low key, fun and very informative! Just come with a pencil, eraser, colored pencils/crayons/markers and paper for sketching. With the colors, no worries if you don’t have them.
