PT = Private Hebrew Tutoring (one-on-one 1 hour sessions)

The first midweek Hebrew Small Group classes - Tues., Oct. 5 and Wed., Oct. 6, 2021
The first midweek Hebrew Private Tutoring sessions - Mon., Oct. 4 and Thurs., Oct. 7, 2021

For this coming fall, we are planning for all eventualities with the expectation that we will be in person in the building. The synagogue leadership has upgraded all of the ventilation systems and the school will spread out in the building to maintain proper physical distancing. All participants will be wearing masks and following guidelines for the health and safety of our community. We will continue to structure a learning environment that is true to the mission of our school: "Create a culture for Jewish families to connect with our community, a kehillah kedoshah filled with compelling learning, inspiring Jewish celebrations, role models, friends, and fun."

Accommodations: If your child would benefit from any accommodations to make his/her learning experience more successful and fulfilling, please indicate in the appropriate fields and contact the Religious School office to schedule a time to discuss. If there are any changes from a prior year, please indicate those as well.

3rd through 6th Grades Midweek Hebrew

To provide parents with flexibility and students with an excellent learning environment for them, we are offering students two options for 3rd-6th grades Hebrew learning: Small Group classes or Private Tutoring. Small Group Sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday include a 55-minute Hebrew lesson and 30-minute Tefilah (prayer) experience.

We are now asking our parents of third through sixth graders to indicate preferences for Small Group/Private Tutoring sessions at this time. Small Group assignments will be made on a first come/first serve basis. Popular times and days will fill up this year. We are making the small groups and PT assignments in mid-August. Deadline for Small Group choices is September 10, 2021.

We will begin to tentatively form small groups in mid-August. Therefore, as soon as you know (or think you know) your child's schedule, please submit the form. There is a place on the form to notate your child's circumstances, such as waiting to hear back from a coach or planning to schedule a tutor.

The office assigns students to a specific small group based on the best learning environment for the student. For students who are new to the school in grades 4 and up, parents will have a conversation with the Director of Family & Youth Learning about optimal placement for their child(ren) and possible in person meeting to ascertain current Hebrew reading level.

Small Groups require a minimum of 3 students for the class to be offered. [It is possible that not all grades are offered each session based on enrollment.]

We also offer one-on-one private tutoring on Monday or Thursday with one of our teachers at a rate of $75/session, which will be billed for 25 sessions ($1,875) at the beginning of the school year. This option will be available on the Midweek Hebrew preference form. Please contact the Religious School office to schedule your child's sessions. All students learning Hebrew through Private Tutoring are strongly urged to attend one of the grade-appropriate minyanim (prayer services) for their class on either Tuesday or Wednesday from 5:30-6:00 pm in person at CBT or remote via Zoom.

For students with individual learning circumstances, financial assistance may be available through the Barbara Felicia Schifter Memorial Fund or Samuel Ulanow Special Needs Education Fund.
