Youth Services

Tot Shabbat is held at 11:00 am, Hands on Shabbat and Club 456 are held at 10:15 am, and the Learner's Minyan is held from 10:00 am – 12:00 noon. Please check our calendar for any updates.

  • Tot Shabbat @ 11:00 am (Pre-K - Kindergarten): Share a delightfully interactive Shabbat experience each month. Come sing, dance, and celebrate a MUSICAL Shabbat with early childhood specialist, Lisa Baydush. It is designed for children up to Kindergarten and their parents.

  • Hands on Shabbat? @ 10:15 am (Kindergarten - Grade 3): Join your children for a hands-on Shabbat experience! We will start with a short service experience with Rabbi Steve Henkin, followed by a different surprise each month to engage the whole family in fun, Shabbat-friendly activities, such as Lego building, puppet shows, storytelling, music, and more! Each month, a different guest will come, so bring the whole family every time for a unique Shabbat celebration! All are welcome to stay for the congregational Kiddush activity.

Club 456 @ 10:15 am (Grades 4 - 6): Come join Rabbi Steve Henkin and some special guests for a new and improved “junior congregation” experience! We will sing, we will learn, and we will have a prayer experience that speaks to YOU!

  • Learner's Minyan @ 10:00 am (Grade 6):

Do you have questions about Shabbat services but have never felt like it was the right time to ask?

Are you preparing for your Bar or Bat Mitzvah, but still are not quite sure about everything that goes on during a service?

Here is your chance to have your questions answered! Rabbi Steve Henkin will be serving as a guide for our students (and parents, too!) through a Shabbat morning service. We will join, participate in, and observe the main service, then come together after the third aliyah to have some time to ask questions, discuss and debrief. Please note that students are required to attend at least two of these services as part of the B’nai Mitzvah program (though you may come as many as you want!).

To enhance our children’s learning experience, students in Grades K-2 are expected and Grades 3-6 are required to attend at least four Friday evening or Saturday morning services at B'nai Tzedek during the school year. Attendance is monitored using a file card system, and credit is given only to those students who attend the entire service either in the sanctuary or the Youth services.

Children who arrive late to services or leave early will not receive credit.

In the 15 months prior to their Bar/Bat Mitzvah, children must attend two Friday nights and 10 Saturday morning services at B’nai Tzedek.
