B'nai Mitzvah Overview
The Bar/Bat Mitzvah ceremony welcomes a young member of the B'nai Tzedek family into our congregation as an adult. The celebration of this time-honored tradition and rite of passage takes place within our community during Shabbat services. To mark this occasion, the Bar/Bat Mitzvah is given the honor of chanting from the Torah, Haftarah and delivering the D'var Torah.
Having a child become Bar/Bat Mitzvah is a special and memorable day for the entire family; representing the culmination of many years of study and preparation, and beginning a child's participation and responsibilty in the Jewish community as an adult.
Under the direction of Cantor Kapell and the B'nai Mitzvah Academic Coordinator, Liane Aaron, our children and families are taught invaluable skills, understand the significance of the occasion, and are fully prepared and confident on the bimah.
