Weather Related School Closing Policy
Snow / Inclement Weather Policy
1) On the first day of snow/inclement weather, if Montgomery County Schools (MCPS) are closed, the Laura & Joel Greenzaid Early Childhood Center is closed. On the second day and thereafter, the GECC makes an independent decision.
2) If Montgomery County Schools have a two (2) hour delayed opening, all morning classes will begin at 10:00 am and end at our normal dismissal time. Enrichment classes will follow a normal schedule, beginning at 1:00 pm, and ending at the regular time, 2:30 pm.
3) If MCPS announces an early dismissal, the Greenzaid ECC will conduct morning classes according to the scheduled times, beginning at 9:15 am, and dismiss all classes at 1:00 pm. In a case where MCPS calls for a dismissal earlier than 1:00 pm (i.e., at 11:30 am), then the ECC will close at the same time as MCPS. In all cases where there is an early closing, afternoon enrichment classes and extended afternoon classes will be cancelled.
4) Please use your judgment when the weather is inclement. If you feel that driving is hazardous, please keep your children at home. If weather and road conditions begin to deteriorate, you may use your discretion to decide whether you wish to pick up your child early.
Please listen to your radio or television for MCPS closing announcements. THERE WILL BE NO SEPARATE ANNOUNCEMENT THAT THE LAURA & JOEL GREENZAID EARLY CHILDHOOD CENTER WILL BE OPEN OR CLOSED ON ANY RADIO OR TV STATION.
