Our Extended Day Parparim Class is taught by Margie Powell and Linda Kotz.
Margie Powell teaches in the Parparim afternoon Extended Day Class as a Lead Teacher and has been instrumental in building a dynamic multi-age program in her two years at the GECC.
Previously, Margie worked with children 2-5 years of age as a Lead Teacher, Educational Director and Center Manager. For the last 15 plus years she has been creating and facilitating teacher education trainings in Montgomery County and for 12 years in Frederick County. She holds an Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Child Care Administration.
On her own time, Margie enjoys spending time with family and friends, hiking, gardening and photography. She also volunteers at a local park doing assorted trail work projects and assisting the naturalist with nature programs for young children and their families.
This will be Linda's 2nd year working with the Parparim class at GECC. In the past Linda taught Sunday School at Agudas Achim Congregation in Virginia and has taught many children and families in various settings during her career as a pediatric nurse. She is fluent in Hebrew and has enjoyed using it in the Parparim classroom.
Linda is the mother of four adult children and the grandmother of four grandchildren. She is happy to see her own grandchildren thriving in a Reggio inspired preschool in Northern Virginia.
