Hidden in Plain Sight: The Jews of Greece

Hidden in Plain Sight: The Jews of Greece

Karen Batshaw, a local author, will be presenting her research about the little known history of the Jews of Greece. Their almost total annihilation during World War II is often called the "orphan" of the Holocaust. Her presentation is based on her meticulously researched historical novel Hidden in Plain Sight.  She will also discuss the efforts of the Greek Orthodox Church to try to save their Jewish citizens.

Hidden in Plain Sight is the story of the brutal Nazi occupation of Greece told through the eyes of a Jewish woman and a Greek Orthodox man whose bitter sweet love story takes place during the annihilation of the Jews and the suffering of the Greek Christians. This largely unknown part of World War II history highlights the Christians who tried to save their Jewish neighbors.
