Congregation B’nai Tzedek Membership Rate Schedule for July 1, 2016 – June 30, 2017

Congregation B’nai Tzedek is open to all members of the Jewish faith and abides by the standards of the Conservative movement on matters of halacha and ritual practice, as set forth by the United Synagogue of Conservative JudaismIn addition to the financial obligations outlined below, our members agree to usher at approximately two Shabbat services each year, and to participate in the evening minyan during the year.  For more information on membership, please call our Executive Director Alan Blank at the synagogue office at 301/299-0225.

Member financial obligations to B’nai Tzedek consist of: (1) the Annual Membership Commitment; (2) for new Members, the Building Fund obligation; (3) for all Members with children enrolled in either our Greenzaid Early Childhood Center or our Rabovsky Religious School, the applicable fees and tuition; and (4) for all Members, an optional contribution to our Supporters’ Fund or a commitment to our Rabbi’s Circle.  We do not deny membership to any Member due to financial hardship, and if you do not believe you can afford these financial obligations, we encourage you to contact our Executive Director Alan Blank to discuss on a confidential basis an alternative financial arrangement.

All Members are encouraged to commit to our regular Annual Commitment for 2016-2017 of $2,990.  However, if you prefer, you may opt to select the applicable of the following Annual Membership Commitment levels based upon the number of adults in your household and the age of the oldest adult in your household.

Supporters' Fund

Because the aggregate Annual Membership Commitments paid by Members accounts for less than half of the revenue required to fund the cost of the synagogue’s operations, we request that Members with the financial capability make an additional voluntary contribution to our Supporters’ Fund or to our Rabbi’s Circle.  For members wishing to provide additional support to the synagogue above their normal dues, the following categories are available:

Tzadekim:  $7,500

Nedivim:   $2,500

Tormim:     $500

Amudim:    $5,000

Shomrim:   $1,800

Yedidim:     $360

Magenim:  $3,600

Bonim:        $1,000

Some members have agreed to pay dues at the $15,000, $10,000 or $7,500 levels, which includes their Supporters’ Fund and other donations.  Members who commit to any of these higher dues levels for a period of 5 years are members of the "Rabbi’s Circle" and are invited free of charge to all synagogue sponsored meals and receive other benefits from their higher level and multi-year commitment of support.  Please contact our Executive Director Alan Blank for further information or with questions.

Special Offer for New Greenzaid Early Childhood Center Families
New non-member families, joining classes in our Laura & Joel Greenzaid Early Childhood Center will receive a one year complimentary membership to Congregation B’nai Tzedek.  This one year free membership will give families a chance to experience everything that B’nai Tzedek has to offer.

Thanks to a grant from a generous congregant, the B’nai Tzedek Board of Directors has authorized a unique program to provide 50% tuition reduction for all families new to B’nai Tzedek and the GECC who agree to join our "Community Builders" program.  This tuition reduction applies to the Core Program tuition.  To receive this tuition reduction, new families must complete the separate Community Builder contract and commit to the 10 hours per month of living, learning and leading at the synagogue.  In addition, the new families must join the synagogue (first year membership fees are free to new families in the GECC).
