B'nai Tzedek Funds


The following funds are available for you to make contributions in honor of a special person, a special occasion, to thank someone or in memory of a loved one.


Arnold Albert Mitzvah Fund 
Established by Bambi and Andrew (z"l) Kramer in memory of Arnold Albert, Bambi's brother.  This fund is used for our annual  Mitzvah Day, Rebuilding Together Montgomery County and other similar social action projects.
Barbara Felicia Schifter Memorial Fund For Special Needs Education 
Established by the family of Barbara Schifter in her memory, to support her life's work in betterment of youth with special needs and their families.  This fund is used to fund educational costs associated with assisting children and their families with costs of shadow teachers or other support staff, professional assessments, educational tools and other education related costs.
Building Fund 
Donations made to this fund are used for improvements and enhancements to our facility.  Dedication opportunities still available.

Burtoff Financial Assistance Fund
Proceeds from this fund are used to offer assistance to members who have demonstrated a financial need.

Burtoff Memorial Yahrzeit Wall 
Commemorate a loved one with a plaque on our Yahrzeit Wall.  $500 per plaque

Cafritz Family Tree of Life 
Leaves and boulders are available for purchase in honor of simchas, happy occasions, such as celebratory life cycle events.  $360 per leaf & $3,600 per boulder.
Cantor’s Music Fund 
Used for expenses pertaining to the congregation's music program, including music classes, adult and children's choir, B'nai Mitzvah program and general materials used by the cantor on behalf of the congregation.

Clara Weinberg & Rebecca Schiff Israel Quest 
A scholarship fund enabling our youngsters who continue their Jewish education after their Bar or Bat Mitzvah to visit Israel prior to graduating from high school.  This program is operated in conjunction with The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington

David Ifshin Memorial Award 
Defrays the cost for the annual lecture and reception held on the anniversary of the yahrzeit of our beloved congregant and friend, David Ifshin.

Duber Family of the Year Fund 
Established by the Duber family in memroy of Alvin & Frances Newman Duber, this annual award recognizes the dedication of a B'nai Tzedek family to our synagogue and Judaism through participation in activities within our congregation, volunteerism and leadership.

Eternal Light Fund 
Supports a variety of synagogue programs and helps to defray basic operation costs.

Gemilut Chesed (Caring) Fund
Supports congregants during times of need such as providing a meal of condolence or when a congregant has had surgery.

Gift Fund
Donations to this fund help cover the cost of the gifts given by the synagogue to our B'nai Mitzvah.

Goldstein-Leibowitz Adult Education Fall Forum
Established by Rick & Helane Goldstein in conjuntion with Helane's parents, Marvin & Beatrice Leibowitz, this fund helps defray the costs of adult education programs at B'nai Tzedek.  The Goldstein and Leibowitz families are most interested in promoting the fall adult education forum which bears their name.

Fund for Jewish Continuity in Programming
Supplements synagogue programming that was not budgeted for in any given year.

Green Family Youth Leadership Fund 
This fund was established by Micah and Karon Green and family for the purpose of encouraging leadership development among B'nai Tzedek's youth in Kadima and USY (grades 6-12).  Proceeds from this fund provide subsidies that enable our teens to participate in USY sponsored and similar other young adult activities.

Greenzaid Early Childhood Center Fund
Supports the programming and non-budgeted needs of our ever-growing nursery school.

Mitzvah Fund
This fund helps to offset the costs of our Shabbat kiddushim, which are not sponsored by one of our families and for the preparation of meals for families who need assistance due to the illness or loss of a loved one.  This is a great way to honor a loved one or to mark a special occasion.

Nat & Ethel Popick Youth & Education Fund
Used for the purchase of non-budgeted materials to enhance and improve our religious school and youth group programs, as well as provides scholarship funds for USY and Camp Ramah programs.

Prayer Book & Ritual Fund
Members may donate to the synagogue a Sim Shalom Siddur for $36, an Etz Hayim Chumash for $75 or a Minyan of Comfort book (for a house of mourning) for $18.  A bookplate with the donor's dedication is placed inthe purchased volume.

Rabbi's Discretionary Fund
Used for scholarships and a variety of charitable and educational purposes, as well as for project within the synagogue and the community at the Rabbi's discretion.

Robert & Karen Keats Scholarship Fund
This fund was established to offer scholarships to children whose parents may not be able to afford nursery or religious school tuition.

Samuel Ulanow Education Fund
Used to fund the costs of alternative educational strategies for children with special needs and who demonstrate financial need; to fund studies/surveys of the population to determine the needs that exist; and to train teachers in working with this population of students.

Sign Interpretation Fund
Defrays the costs of providing interpreters for hearing-impaired members of the synagogue, thus making it possible for everyone to participate fully in our services and educational programs.

Social Action Fund
Supports a variety of social action and community projects that are organized throughout the year, including our Annual Mitzvah Day and our monthly lunches and dinners for residents of homeless shelters.

Sudhalter Family Library Fund
Provides for the purchase of books, periodicals and other materials for our library.
Supporters' Fund
Enables us to continue offering quality programs and services to all our members.  The following levels of support are available:  Tzadekim ($7,500), Amudim ($5,000), Magenim ($3,600),
 Nedivim ($2,500), Shomrim ($1,800), Bonim ($1,000), Tormim ($500) and Yedidim ($360).
Teacher's Appreciation Fund
This fund was created to reward teachers for outstanding service in the religious school and to support continuing education for religious school teachers.

Toby Weinblatt Art Fund
To purchase artwork to beautify the synagogue.

Torah Fund 
To purchase and repair Torahs for the congregation.

Yoram Gordon Hebrew Education Fund
Established in memory of Yoram Gordon to further the study of moder Hebrew language and literature.  This fund is used to purchase books, electronic programs and teaching aids and to fund events and programs.

Weinberg (Myron) Computer Fund
