The Social Action Committee in committed to helping others outside our synagogue that are less fortunate, including those who face hunger on a daily basis, disadvantaged or ill children and adults, senior citizens and even further beyond to those in other countries who may be facing loss due to persecution or natural disasters.
Throughout the year we collect monthly donations to help those in need. The collection box is located in the Bubes Administrative wing next to the main office. Volunteers are always needed to help transport collections to their various destinations.
Please consider assisting us in these efforts.
Monthly Collections Schedule
September & October: Canned and packaged foods
November & December: Overcoats, sweaters, mittens, hats
December: New toys and games in conjunction with the GECC
January & February: Books, videos, DVDs, electronic games
March & April: Toiletries and household cleaning supplies
May & June: Spring/summer games and toys
July & August: New or gently used school supplies
Ongoing Collections throughout the Year
Clean towels/blankets for the animal shelter
Knitted hats, scarves or gloves for children and adults in homeless shelters
Used cell phones (including chargers, batteries, etc.) for “Secure the Call,” an
organization that provides working cell phones to battered women. Phones are
programmed to be able to dial 911 in the event of an emergency.
Mitzvah Dinners for a Homeless Shelter
Once each month adults and children gather in the Goldblatt-Cooper Kitchen at 10:00 am, cook a delicious, warm and healthy meal for an area homeless shelter. Participants are eligible to earn family life credit through the religious school.
